2. What we collect, in detail
All users: name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a cryptographic hash — never in readable form), profile photo, language preference, IP address, device and browser information, and records of your activity on the Platform. We also record your acceptance of our Terms and this Policy — the date, time, and version accepted — your phone verification status, and separate records of your consent to transactional and to marketing messages, each with the date and time given.
Clients: event address, event date and details, booking history, and ratings and reviews you give and receive. Payment card details are collected and stored by Stripe, not by Stagelane. We never see or store your full card number.
Talent: service categories, rates, availability, service area, equipment details, biography, social media links, short video or audio clips, portfolio images, and any professional documents you choose to upload. Payout and bank details are collected directly by Stripe.
Identity verification: you submit your government-issued ID and a selfie directly to our verification provider, Didit. We do not store your ID images, your ID number or your face geometry. We receive a pass/fail result, a status, and a timestamp. Once your identity is verified, we also keep one still image of your face from your selfie (the "verified photo"); see “Verified photo” below in this Section 2.
Biometric data. To verify identity, you photograph your ID and take a selfie in a flow run by our provider Didit, which compares your face with your ID photo (face geometry). We use this only to confirm identity and prevent fraud. We do not store ID images, your ID number or face geometry in our systems (the only image we keep is the verified photo described below); authorized staff may view a session in Didit's console only to resolve a manual review. Biometric data is destroyed by Didit no later than 1 year after your last verification (our provider is currently configured to delete it after one month). We never sell, lease or trade it, or otherwise profit from it. We collect it only with your express consent.
Verified photo. Once your identity verification is successful, we keep one still image of your face taken from the selfie you provided to Didit (the "verified photo"). We do not keep images of your ID document, your ID number or your face geometry; those stay with Didit under its retention policy. We use the verified photo only to show the other party to a confirmed Booking who they will meet at the event, and to let our staff check that a profile photo matches a verified person. The verified photo is stored in a private storage area, is never public, is never sold and is not used for advertising. We keep it while your account is active and delete it within 30 days after your account is closed or when you ask us to (see Section 8). You can ask us to delete it at any time; if you do, you may need to verify again before taking or making a Booking.
Sensitive personal information. Some of the above may be considered sensitive under California law (for example, government identifier data and face geometry handled by our verification provider, the verified photo we keep, and the precise location a Talent shares when checking in at an event). We use it only to provide the service you requested and to prevent fraud — never to infer characteristics about you, and never for advertising.
3. Where the information comes from
Directly from you; automatically from your device as you use the Platform; and from our verification provider (the result and, once your identity is verified, the verified photo).
4. Why we use it
To create and operate your account; to match Clients with Talent and process Bookings; to instruct our payment provider; to verify identity and prevent fraud; to send transactional messages about your account and Bookings; to display genuine ratings and reviews; to prevent fraud, abuse, and off-platform circumvention; to provide support and resolve disputes; and to comply with legal obligations.
5. Who we share it with
With the other party to a Booking. Before a Booking is confirmed, Talent see only your general area — never your exact address. Your exact event address and contact details are shared with a Talent only once that Booking is confirmed and identity verification requirements are met, and only to the extent needed to perform that Booking. Once a Booking is confirmed, each party may also see the other's verified photo (see Section 2).
With service providers who process data on our behalf, each bound by a written agreement limiting use of your data to providing that service:
- Payment processing — holds and disburses all funds, and collects payment and payout details directly.
- Identity verification (Didit) — receives your ID images and selfie and compares your face with your ID photo; returns a result to us and, once your identity is verified, the verified photo.
- Hosting and database — stores your account data, photos (including the verified photo, in private storage), clips, and portfolio.
- Address autocomplete and geocoding — receives addresses you enter for matching and mapping.
- SMS message delivery — receives your name and phone number in order to deliver transactional text messages.
- Email message delivery — receives your name and email address in order to deliver transactional emails.
- Website analytics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) — receive usage data such as pages viewed, clicks, scrolling and device type. Text you type or read on the Platform is masked before it leaves your browser.
For legal reasons: where required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the public, or Stagelane. In a business transfer: if Stagelane is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction; we will notify you.
All of the above exclude text-messaging opt-in data and consent, which are never shared with any third party, including in a business transfer.
6. How long we keep it
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account data | While your account is active; deleted when you ask us to, except records we must keep by law (payments, tax, disputes) |
| Booking and payment records | 7 years, for tax and dispute purposes |
| Messages tied to a Booking | 2 years after the event, as dispute evidence |
| Identity verification result (not documents) | While your account is active |
| Biometric data (ID images, selfie, face geometry) | Held by Didit, not by us; destroyed no later than 1 year after your last verification (currently set to one month) |
| Verified photo (one still image of your face) | Held by Stagelane in private storage while your account is active; deleted within 30 days after your account is closed, or on request |
| Acceptance records (Terms/Policy version) | 7 years after account closure |
| Server and security logs | 12 months |
We may retain information longer where a legal obligation, investigation, or open dispute requires it.
7. Security
Encryption in transit; access restricted to personnel who need it; payment details and identity documents handled by specialized third-party providers rather than stored by us; the verified photo kept in private storage that is never public and that only our servers can read; passwords stored only as hashes.
Breach notification. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you within 30 days of determining that a breach occurred, as Florida law requires. Where a breach affects 500 or more Florida residents, we will also notify the Florida Department of Legal Affairs within 30 days.
8. Your rights
All users: see and correct your information in your account. To get a copy of your data or delete your account, write to hi@stagelane.com; we reply within 45 days. Some information must be retained where we have a legal obligation or an open dispute.
California residents. You have the right to: know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; delete it; correct it; obtain a portable copy; limit the use of sensitive personal information; and opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. If that ever changes, we will update this Policy and post a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link before doing so.
How to exercise your rights: write to hi@stagelane.com. We will verify your identity before responding and will respond within 45 days (extendable once by 45 days, with notice). You may use an authorized agent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights — no denial of service, different pricing, or different quality.
9. Communications
We send transactional messages about your account and Bookings — requests and invitations, confirmations, reminders, verification codes, and support — by email, and by SMS if you opt in. These are service messages, not marketing.
We verify your phone number with a one-time code sent by text. Verifying it does not sign you up for texts. We send booking and account texts only if you tick the optional SMS box; without it, we reach you by email.
Reply STOP to stop all texts from Stagelane (you get one confirmation, then none). Reply START to resume, or HELP for help. You can also write to hi@stagelane.com. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Booking updates still reach you by email.
We do not send marketing messages unless you separately opt in. Each news email has an unsubscribe link and our postal address; unsubscribing does not affect booking messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
10. Your content and copyright
Content you upload (photos, clips, portfolios) is stored by us and displayed on the Platform. You are responsible for holding the rights to anything you upload. To report infringing content, see the DMCA section of our Terms of Service. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
11. Age
The Platform is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact hi@stagelane.com.
13. Users outside the United States
The Platform is operated from the United States and intended for users in our service areas. If you access it from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
14. Changes to this Policy
We will post material changes before they take effect and update the effective date above. Where required, we will ask you to accept the updated version.
